A moment in time.
We are Volunteers in the Environmental Education Program at our Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. Our mission is to expose students of our schools to the excitement of experiencing nature and the respect we owe to wildlife, whether insect or deer.
The Program is very popular with the schools and home-schooled children.
Most of us are retired, some volunteers in their 80's, all of us enjoying the pleasure of introducing the students to the mysteries of nature.
The image is from a photograph I took while we were waiting for the children to finish their binocular training before going out on the trail.
As these women were leaning on the railing, it looked like a group of wise women focusing on going inward, as if in communion before setting out on their journey.
And I loved all those hands caught in that moment.
