Artist's Description

The idea of a shadow for this leaf inspired me to have some fun.
Shadows do their own thing according to the light source, yet they always stay attached.
A form of duality.

At first I tried to have the 'arms' of the shadow touching the tips of those on the original leaf.
In not doing so, it somehow emphasizes the separateness yet attachment of the shadow by having it appear to be moving its own way, yet reaching for the leaf.

i'ina Van Lawick My love has always been Nature. Photography started for me when my grandmother gave me an ancient Kodak Box Camera when I was 11 years old. In Art School Photography was an important elective for me besides my Major in Metalsmithing. Now that Carpal Tunnel to both wrists nixed my ability to work with metal I have taken up photography again after being introduced to the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge near Olympia, WA; and consequently, digital photography.
