What a fun photo I'ina - love the patterns in the water and the "hoody's' feather-do is so cute!

Thank you, Julie. She is one of my favorite birds with a great personality. Glad you enjoyed her photograph.

Artist's Description

Spring is on its way.
The Hooded Mergansers have arrived and are courting.
The wily female 'hoody', shown here, is known to lay eggs in the nest of Wood Ducks, who then have the chore of hatching and feeding these little intruders.
The Wood Ducks nest in tree hollows and cavities. I have watched a female 'hoody' sitting on the edge of the cavity and checking things out.
I always enjoy watching the young 'hoodies' as they so much resemble Dennis the Menace with their mischievous demeanor.
