Description
At the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually NWR we work side by side with the Nisqually Tribe on our mission to bring back the Nisqually River Estuary to its original state of natural balance.
Already great improvement is visible to this habitat for salmon and all the other Estuary's creatures so important to the life cycles of this particular area in Puget Sound.
This image I have created is from two of my photographs taken the day the Visitors Center was renamed.
That day the opening and closing of the celebration ceremony was performed by the Canoe Family Drummers and Singers of the Nisqually Tribe.
The name Nisqually is roughly translated as "The People of the River and the Grasses".
The Nisqually singer has been put against a background of grasses of the Nisqually River Delta.
My focus was on creating a blending that would enhance the meaning of who she is.
She has graciously allowed me to include this portrait on my FAA site.

Very nice! I love the light spots created by the hat.
I'ina Van Lawick replied:
Thank you very much, Daniel. Yes, that is what was the 'aha moment' for the shot.
