Description
As the sun was rising, the beach quickly filled with members of the Quinault tribe.
It was a perfect tide for digging razor clams.
The men haul a net attached to their waist, very useful for having both hands free to dig, and then chuck each clam into the net.
These clams make a delicious chowder, which my dutch aunt prepares each New Year's eve from the clams that my uncle digs on the few days a year, when non-native people are allowed to dig for them. They are a lot of work to clean and worth the labor. When cleaned, they are popped into the freezer to await the preparation of this New Year's feast.
This is a photograph which has been digitally manipulated to bring out the ruggedness of this foraging experience..

Great color has made this even better...that reflection so strong...the feet....ah, how wonderful, I'ina. F/L++
I'ina Van Lawick replied:
Thank you very much, Nancy. That was a great morning, just enough wetness on the sand to create great reflections for all the clammers.

Thank you, Carrie. It was interesting to elect the right multiple processes to express what I saw and felt in this photograph and while shooting it.
