Description
This morning of the Summer Solstice, I did Trail Roving as a Volunteer at the Wildlife Refuge. Moving slowly through tall grasses a Black-tailed Deer, a doe, and I spotted each other. After hesitating she continued and I sat quietly waiting for her to appear onto the trail, which she did. A few seconds later, to my surprise, there appeared her fawn, looking at me with wide-eyed caution. It had not been visible in the high grasses of these wetlands.
The pair then ambled across the trail to reach the other side and calmly disappeared into the forest.
I like the subtle colors of old illustrations and have been using them in a few of my latest images.
