Description
A 4x10 of January Thaw.
This is a view of the New Dike at the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually Wildlife Refuge, WA.
Originally the land was turned into a farm and encircled by a dike to create more agricultural acreage.
After going bankrupt the property was turned into a wildlife refuge, and the Old Dike eliminated to allow the estuary to reclaim its original form. Hence the New Dike to prevent the Puget Sounds waters from claiming the present acreage.
All this was done with co-operation of the local tribe, the Nisqually People.
