Description
The little hummer had her nest right over the boardwalk.
Not everyone was respectful of her space, and we finally had to close that part of the trail.
She had one young that survived.
Since they don't appear to return to the nest in the future, we were able to cut down the long branch to display the nest in the Refuge's Environmental Education program.
The kids were in awe, especially as we have an eagle's nest also, that had been abandoned.
It was wonderful for them to be compared, including the imitation eggs we had put in to show the grand difference in size.
