Description
The same building that was the background in Urban Mirrors, was the background for this little Red Maple that persisted in showing off its glorious persona.
Unfortunately, it was later cut down.
What drew me was the contrast between the graffiti and geometric structure, and the graceful little tree.
Even the weeds are shooting up between the cracks, ever resilient.
Reminds me of Detroit, with the abandoned neighborhoods in the middle of town, where graffiti on the street surface vies with the beauty of the wild pheasants that appeared here and there, much to our astonishment.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.

Thank you very much for featuring this image, Calvin. This one means a lot to me because of its presentation by Nature.
