Description
This Sora, a rail, is feeding on plants, frequently flicking its tail up-and-down. When weary of us photographers it hides inside some rushes which appear to be a nesting place.
Its face is dark, which shows that it it is in its breeding stage.
A beautiful little bird, just a tad larger than a Robin, it also swims, which surprised me as it does not have visible webbing between its toes.
A shy bird, we have been lucky to see it so easily when we approach quietly.

William, you have made my day with your choice of my image for a WOWIE! It was lovely to spend time watching this elusive little bird foraging in the marsh.

What a wonderful bird (one I don't know) and so beautifully photographed with a great full reflection and lots to enjoy in the water and plants. Just love this one, I'ina! Also swims..it would!!
I'ina Van Lawick replied:
Thank you, Nancy. Hope to be able to see its chicks, as we are pretty sure where its nest is.
