Description
Something metallic green was glinting in the marigold flower.
It turned out to be a gorgeous insect, the Striped Sweat Bee.
This type of bee lives in nests burrowed into dirt or banks and only stings in self-defense.

Thank you, Cindy; rushed inside for the camera and the bee was still there. Yippee.

An outstanding piece of macro photography, I'ina. Perfect use of DOF. A wonderful orange dream into which this bee has wandered. Beautifully done.
I'ina Van Lawick replied:
Thank you, Paul. Love the way you see it through your eyes. Such a little jewel, that bee.
